POGO, a nonpartisan, independent government watchdog, reports the CIA and Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) inspectors general, Robin Ashton and Thomas Monheim, have resigned following Trump’s reelection. Inspectors general, tasked with investigating fraud and abuse may find their roles OBE by an electorate unconcerned with the details of government operation.
Trump has proposed controversial nominees to lead intelligence agencies, including Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence and Matt Gaetz as attorney general. These developments intensify focus on who will fill the watchdog vacancies.
