Pentagon expands drone missions under Replicator program
Per FedNewsNetwork, the Pentagon’s Replicator initiative is accelerating the deployment of autonomous drones, with its second tranche introducing new platforms and expanding mission capabilities. The program aims to rapidly produce thousands of autonomous drones using 3D printing technology to enhance military capabilities and response times.
The initiative integrates classified systems for long-range strike and maritime missions, alongside innovations targeting small uncrewed aerial system (C-sUAS) threats under Replicator 2. Defense officials aim to deploy thousands of drones by August 2025 and counter C-sUAS threats by 2026. With $500 million allocated annually and contracts awarded to 30 companies, Replicator highlights the Pentagon’s shift toward rapid technology acquisition and integration to address emerging threats.
