Bombardier Defense delivered the first Global 6500 jet to the Army for the High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES), a new high-altitude intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platform, reports Defense Scoop. The HADES program, replacing the legacy RC-12 Guardrail, addresses the Army's top capability gap: deep sensing for large-scale combat operations. The jet serves as the program's "workhorse," with advanced modular and software-enabled systems allowing adaptation to evolving global threats.

The first aircraft marks a milestone in the Army's shift to high-altitude ISR platforms, but integration of mission systems is on hold pending GAO review of Sierra Nevada's integration contract award, contested by L3Harris. Full operational capability is expected by 2027. Officials emphasize HADES’ adaptability, open architecture, and modular design to meet diverse theater demands.

The Global 6500 is a high-performance business jet known for its long-range capabilities, advanced avionics, and often luxurious cabins. Powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, it offers a range of up to 6,600 nautical miles and a top speed of Mach 0.90, making it ideal for both corporate and specialized missions like ISR.
